NEW HOMES
We will work with your builder or architect to design and install a rainwater catchment system
Metal roofs (galvalume) work best
Use PVC or PEX supply lines inside the house instead of copper
Gray water systems require separate supply lines
Plan gutter, downspout and tank locations to avoid spillage
Plan filtration and purification locations for easy access
Use native, drought-tolerant plants in landscaping
EXISTING HOMES
We can retrofit an existing home with potable, non-potable or a combination system
Non-potable systems used for landscaping are a less expensive option
If you have copper pipes, a potable system will require a buffering agent
Overhanging trees may require additional filtering or gutter guards
We recommend that you use gray water for landscaping only
For DIYers, we can design a system that allows you to start small and grow over time
THINGS TO CONSIDER
What are your potable/non-potable (landscaping) water needs?
Do you have space for the storage tanks?
Do you have an adequate roof collection surface?
Does your HOA have any existing restrictions which would affect the rainwater system?
Do you want to install the system yourself?
Do you have time to monitor the system and perform periodic maintenance?
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Each rainwater catchment system is custom designed for your home, site and water needs. A good rule of thumb is that a system
costs between $1.50 to $4.00 per gallon of storage, not including gutters. The most expensive components are:
storage tanks, gutters, piping. Adding potable treatment costs from $1,000 - $2,000 depending on the volume of water.
Long pipe runs also add to the cost. The following numbers are meant for illustrative and comparison purposes only:
Storage Tanks: (excludes shipping and installation)
250 - 2500 gallons: $300 - $1,750
2500 - 10000 gallons: $2,000 - $5,500
10,000 gallons: $5,500 - $8,000
Gutters: $8 - $15 per linear foot (galv. steel)
Piping: $4 - $7 per linear foot
